New man takes helm at Pakistan Tanners’ Association

04/10/2017
The Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA) has elected a new central chairman for 2017-18, Amanullah Aftab of Hafiz Tannery in Karachi.

He will be supported by Mansoor Iqbal of Dada Enterprises in Lahore, who has elected senior vice chairman, and Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh of Bombal Leathers in Karachi, who was elected as vice chairman of the PTA’s Central Executive Committee.

In a welcome note on the PTA’s website, Mr Aftab expressed confidence that the quality of leather and leather products being manufactured in Pakistan can be improved to suit the requirement of end users across the world. He said this can be achieved by adopting “scientific methodology” and “modern technology”.

Mr Aftab also called on the government to offer a “due relief package” to Pakistan’s leather sector so that it can become competitive in the global market.
