PTA calls for tax refunds as Pakistan tanners head for Milan

Thirty tanners from Pakistan will take part in the autumn edition of Lineapelle, which takes place in Milan from October 4-6. The Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) has received backing from the Asian country’s export promotions agency to set up an extensive national pavilion at the event.

In the build-up to Lineapelle, PTA chairman, Anjum Zafar, urged Pakistan’s ministry of commerce and ministry of finance to put in place tax refunds promised in July.

He said Pakistan’s earnings from leather-sector exports have been decreasing for three consecutive years, but insisted tax relief initiatives will help to halt the decline.
