The partnership is with Pro France, an organisation made up of business leaders who aim to preserve the heritage and craftsmanship associated with the ‘Made in France’ label. Among its activities is a certification scheme, Origine France Garantie, that offers a guarantee to consumers that a product has French origins.
The agreement was signed at the start of September by the president of the CNC, Frank Boehly, and the founder of Pro France, Yves Jégo. The CNC said it will allow for better promotion of ‘Made in France’ values, in particular with regard to the “savoir-faire” of the French leather industry.
The CNC described this industry as a crucial part of the country’s artisanal heritage, pointing out that it employs around 130,000 people and generates €25 billion each year, €10 billion of which comes from exports. It believes this agreement will help support businesses and workers in the leather industry, as well as protecting French jobs and leather products.
