Trumpler to participate in French open house event

Tanners and leather artisans in and around the former French tanning centre of Graulhet will open their doors on October 25 and 26 to allow members of the public to learn about the techniques used to finish leather and to create leather products.

The event, which takes place under the name ‘Cuir dans la Peau’ (‘Leather in the blood’), is designed to allow local companies to showcase their savoir-faire to a wider audience.

“The event is as much intended for local people, so that they can discover their heritage, as it is for those from outside the region,” the local tourism office has said.

The tanners taking part are Cuir du Futur, Mégisserie du Midi, Euréka and Didier Lieutard. They will be joined by leather workshops Ateliers Fourès, Maroquinerie Milhau, Maroquinerie Serres et La Fabrique. There will also be international representation in the form of German leather chemicals manufacturer Trumpler, which will offer insight into how the different colours of leather are achieved.
