Kering re-opens crocodile tannery in Périers

The relocation project followed the acquisition by the group of existing exotic leather producer France Croco, based in nearby Saint-Martin-D’Aubigny, four years ago. Since then, Kering has increased the facility’s workforce from 45 to 90 today. The company says this figure will increase further to 160 employees in the years ahead as production picks up.
Presiding at the opening ceremony, group managing director, Jean-François Palus, referred to the new facility as the Tannerie de Périers. He described it as an ultra-modern production site that will carry on an exotic leather tradition in the region of more than 40 years.
Mr Palus went on to say that the Tannerie de Périers’ “unique savoir-faire” and its careful selection of only the best skins will allow it to be a leader in supplying exotic leather to prestigious luxury brands in Italy and France.
Guest of honour at the ceremony, president of the region of Normandy, Hervé Morin, said his hope is that Tannerie de Périers will act as a spearhead for manufacturing in Normandy.
