Hermès adds 200 new jobs in the first half of 2017

Luxury group Hermès has published a half-yearly report confirming previously reported revenue figures for the first six months of 2017 of more than €2.7 billion. This represents an increase of 9.7% compared to the same period in 2016.

Leathergoods and saddlery brought in €1.4 billion in the six-month period, an increase of 14% year on year.

In addition, the new report said the Hermès Group added more than 200 people to its workforce in the first half of 2017, taking the total number worldwide to just over 13,000 employees, 8,000 of them in France.

Its leathergoods division has contributed substantially to the addition to the Hermès workforce because the company has increased production capacity at its leathergoods factories in Charente, Isère and Franche-Comté. And in June, it opened two new production sites, one near Rouen making leathergoods and the other near Limoges making gloves and leathergoods.
