French tannery secures buyer

The company was put up for sale in February after coming into financial difficulties. The new owner is Château SARL, a company with rich pedigree in leather making. It was founded in 1985.
Mégisserie Colombier’s operation is expected to restart in the near future, albeit with seven less employees than it previously had.
Arnaud Colombier, director of the eponymous company, told local media that the buyout offers some relief after a year and a half of hard work. After the company entered liquidation, its management team managed to steady the ship. Mr Colombier said it needed to find a buyer who is willing to invest so that the local leather knowledge isn’t lost. He will remain head of Mégisserie Colombier.
Julien Château, director of Château SARL, said he was looking forward to giving Mégisserie Colombier a new lease of life. He added that his company planned to use its commercial network in Paris to further develop the business, with a focus on luxury goods and small leathergoods.
