French tannery up for sale

17/02/2017
Mégisserie Colombier, a family-owned tannery based in France’s glove-making heartland of Saint-Junien, is looking for a buyer.

The company was founded in 1925 by Leon Colombier. The first forty years of its existence saw it focus on producing leather for clothing. In the 1960s, the tannery diversified, adding lambskin and sheepskin to its list of products. These materials were destined for use in shoes and small leathergoods. Mégisserie Colombier now also produces high-quality goatskin for luxury gloves

It is based in the heart of a tannery cluster, which encompasses the regions of Haute-Vienne (of which Saint-Junien is a part), Périgord and Charente. It employs 27 people and in 2015 achieved revenue of €2.9 million.

Interested buyers have until March 15 to submit their offers for the tannery.
