14/09/2017
The US exported 104,488 tonnes of beef in July, an improvement of 5% compared to the same month of 2016. The value of these exports was 18% higher year-on-year at $623.7 million. Exports accounted for 13.2% of total US beef production during the month.
These figures were led by strong performances in two of the US beef industry’s key export markets, Japan and South Korea. Exports to Japan increased 20% in volume and 36% in value, while exports to South Korea increased 8% in value, despite a 5% drop in volume.
For January to July, US beef exports were 11% higher in volume and 15% higher in value compared to the first seven months of 2016.
