A government-led delegation from Botswana has returned from a visit to India, where it hoped to gain know-how to use in a new leather park, scheduled to be up and running by April 2017.

The group visited a common effluent treatment plant, tanneries and footwear, leathergoods, upholstery and garment factories.

Botswana’s minister of trade and industry, Vincent Seretse, told local media that at full capacity – which is expected to be reached in January 2019 - 9,300m2 of finished leather could be produced at the park every day, with 80% destined for export.
