Brazil: Value of 2015 hides and skins exports drops 23% to $2.3 billion

Brazilian exports of hides and skins had a value of $196 million in December, a decrease of 23% compared with the same month in 2014.

However, around 3.7 million pieces of leather were shipped during the month, 28% more than in December 2014.

For 2015, the value of skins fell 23% to $2.3 billion, while the volume fell 4% to 33 million pieces.

This compares with the $2.9 billion that was earned from skins (salted, wet blue, crust and finished) in 2014, and the $2.5 billion earned in 2013.
