Big jump in beef export figures for Mato Grosso in September

The Brazilian state of Mato Grosso registered in September its best figures so far this year for beef exports. Packer companies in the state shipped 29,000 tonnes of beef in September, bringing in export earnings of $107.8 million.

These figures represent year-on-year increases of 19.7% in volume and 36.7% in value.

Commentators have linked the increase in revenue with a drop in the value of the Brazilian real this year; its value against the US dollar by 48.3% in the course of 2015.
