10/07/2019
The latest figures released by the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) show that the country’s beef exports in May were relatively steady compared to the same month of the previous year.

During May, a total of 117,541 tonnes of beef were exported, flat compared to the same month of 2018. The value of these exports was up 1% to $727.6 million, the second-highest monthly value on record.

During the first five months of 2019, exports were 3% lower in volume (530,088 tonnes) but only slightly lower in value at $3.3 billion. Exports accounted for 14% of total US beef production during this period, compared to 14.6% in the same five months of last year.
