Hermès to boost its production in Saint Junien

24/06/2019
Luxury group Hermès plans to further expand its presence in Saint Junien, a French town with a rich heritage in glove-making and leathergoods production.

It has been manufacturing products there since 2017, creating 90 new jobs to date. According to local media reports, it is preparing to acquire a second building in the town, for which it will recruit around 100 new artisans by 2022.

The site is said to be near to the Cité du Cuir complex, a project launched in 2017 that includes a museum, temporary exhibition spaces, training workshops and studios for leather artisans. Its aim is to showcase Saint-Junien’s leather history.

As is the case with all of Hermès’ production sites, new artisans will be trained in-house. Recruitment is expected to begin by the end of 2019.
