Luxury group Hermès has reported revenue of just under €3.3 billion in the first half of 2019, an increase of 12% at constant exchange rates compared to the same period of last year.

The group’s leathergoods and saddlery division brought in sales of more than €1.65 billion, an increase of 12.4% year-on-year. It was responsible for just over half of Hermès’ overall revenue during the first six months of the year.

Hermès said demand for its leathergoods “remains very high”. With this in mind, it is continuing to increase its production capacity for these items. It expects to complete a new workshop in Guyenne in 2021, with another in Louviers slated to open in 2021.

There was strong performance across all geographical regions. Sales in Europe, including in its home market, were 6.7% higher than in the first half of 2018, and revenue from Asia increased 15.8%.
