Savar tanners to take responsibility for CETP

They came to this decision following a meeting with Salman Rahman, private industry and investment adviser to Bangladeshi Primer Minister, Sheikh Hasina. Others present at the meeting included the chairs of the Bangladesh Tanners Association, the Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters Association.
It took place at the industries ministry, with industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun also in attendance. The ministry has said the work to construct the CETP at the Savar cluster is “satisfactory” and is following the suggestions of international auditors and consultants. It added that any flaws in the construction can be easily resolved. This includes making changes to solid and liquid waste management systems.
