Savar’s tannery waste could be turned into fertiliser

An Italian company is working with the Savar leather industrial city in Bangladesh to turn solid waste into fertiliser, according to local press.

The chairman of the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (Bscic) Md Mostaq Hasan said ILSA will take the waste back to Italy to process.

Md Abdus Salam Xitu, general manager of Bangladeshi associate company Resources Regeneration, told The Business Standard: “We will be able to start implementing the project as soon as the agreement is signed between the companies. The company has asked Bscic for land and waste for implementing the project."
