Leather chemicals manufacturer Stahl has announced that its long-time technical advisor and the global coordinator of its Stahl Campus education programme, Frans van den Heuvel, is retiring.

Born in the Netherlands in 1953, Stahl said Mr van den Heuvel had been working at the company since his school days, initially joining in a factory position. It added that he was “the perfect man for the job” when it was looking for someone to lead Stahl Campus when it launched in 2014.

This programme is one of Stahl’s major global initiatives. Through Stahl Campus, it hopes to spread knowledge and training in best practices. It now operates in China and Mexico, as well as in the company’s home market. A further expansion to India is to take place in the near future.

Discussing the success of this initiative, Mr van den Heuvel said: “We have coached 600 leather industry influencers and emerging talents from all over the world in Waalwijk in recent years. There is a great need for information about leather and we have consolidated that within Stahl Campus.”

Responsibility for the Stahl Campus programme will now pass to of Annelies Janssen- van Drunen and a team of local managers.

In a statement on its website, Stahl thanked Mr van den Heuvel for his “faithful service” and wished him well in his “well-deserved” retirement.
