LVMH extends apprenticeship programme to Italy
Luxury group LVMH has announced that it will expand its Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME) initiative to Italy. The programme aims to pass on savoir-faire and artisan skills in leathergoods and other disciplines to a new generation of craftspeople.

To launch the initiative in Italy it has joined forces with Florence-based fashion and design school Polimoda, which will be LVMH’s first partner for the training of leathergoods artisans in the country.

LVMH has said the training offered will initially focus on leathergoods craftsmanship and will begin in the 2017-18 academic year (October 2017). The first class, which will consist of 12 students, will receive funding from the Tuscany region, LVMH added.

The training will consist of classes at Polimoda and hands-on craftsmanship training from different LVMH Maisons.
