LVMH sets up new apprenticeship programme

Paid apprenticeships will be available from September 2014 at different LVMH brands, which in the luxury leathergoods sector include Louis Vuitton, Céline, Loewe, Kenzo, Givenchy, Fendi, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs and Berluti. In time, through the new programme, called L’Institut des Métiers d’Excellence” (IME), which translates as the Institute of Métiers (or Trades) of Excellence, successful candidates will be accredited with vocational qualifications, increasing their employability.
“Our métiers are mastered over the long term: all employees within the group are committed to the preservation and enrichment of its heritage, and are therefore proud to contribute to this original initiative,” said group executive vice-president for human resources, Chantal Gaemperle, at the time of the announcement.
LVMH has said it has developed the IME training programmes “in collaboration with outstanding educational partners”, which so far include the BJOP jewellery school and the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. LVMH said on making the announcement that it intends to sign other partnerships, including one specifically for leathergoods.
