Automotive seating supplier Lear Corporation achieved sales of $18.6 billion in 2016, a 2% increase on the previous year and its best ever annual performance.

This record came despite a 2% dip in sales in the final quarter of the year, when revenue came in at $4.6 billion.

The company’s Seating segment recorded sales of $14.4 billion across the 12 months, which represented 2% growth year-on-year.

Matt Simoncini, president and CEO of Lear, said the company put its strong performance in 2016 down to smart investments. He added that he believes Lear is in the “strongest overall competition position in its history”.
