Lear opens innovation centre in Detroit
Automotive seating supplier Lear Corporation has opened an innovation centre in Detroit, US, which will serve to develop new automotive products and technologies.

Lear will collaborate with the nearby College for Creative Studies (CCS) to create the “next generation of automotive seating and vehicle interiors”. It will also work with the School of Engineering at Wayne State University (WSU) to develop applications for connected cars and alternative energy vehicles.

The company says the centre will be “a hub for art, creativity, automotive advanced concept development and hands-on learning for Detroit college students”. It will focus on innovation and design, both inside and outside the automotive industry.

The interior of the new facility features designs from local graffiti artists, in a celebration of the region’s artistic heritage. It has an open first floor gallery and showroom, as well as modern office and work spaces that Lear says are designed to promote creativity.
