Lear inaugurates seat cover plant in Macedonia

08/11/2016
Automotive seating supplier Lear Corporation has opened a seat cover manufacturing plant in Macedonia, the companies first permanent facility in the country.

The purpose-built facility in the Tetovo industrial zone takes over operations from an interim site that Lear opened in May 2015 in the nearby city of Gostivar.

The plant will initially employ 520 people, with plans to increase this to 800 in the coming months. It currently has the room for more than 2,000 employees with an option for expansion that would take the total number of workers to 3,000.

Local media reports that Lear has invested €15 million in the facility.
