Lear to open Macedonian leather seat plant to serve European auto groups
20/05/2015
Serving all major European automotive manufacturers, the facility will employ 300 people in its initial phase, with an emphasis on leather and fabric cutting and sewing capability.
Jeneanne Hanley, Lear's vice-president for global trim and craftsmanship, said: "With Lear's success in vertically integrated automotive seating systems and components, we are pleased to begin operations at an interim site in Macedonia and plan new plant construction by mid-2016.”
Lear completed the acquisition of US-based tannery Eagle Ottawa in January and describes itself as “the world's leading supplier of premium automotive leather”.
