China and India will drive car growth in 2015, Lear says
During its presentation at the 2015 Deutsche Bank Global Auto Industry Conference in Detroit, automotive seating supplier Lear Corporation said it believes car manufacturers around the world will produce 88.2 million vehicles this year, an increase of 3% compared to 2014.

Lear, which last year acquired automotive tanning group Eagle Ottawa, said at the conference that total production in 2014 was 85.3 million vehicles, but that growth in India and China in particular is likely to push the figure higher this year.

It went on to say that production in China is likely to increase from 21.2 million in 2014 to 23 million in 2015, growth of 8%. Growth in India will be even higher, Lear said, at 9%, increasing from 3.6 million new vehicles produced in 2014 to 3.9 million this year.
