Hermes production gains momentum to meet growing demand

Leathergoods brand Hermes continues to outshine peers in terms of growth with revenues up 8% to €1.1 billion at constant exchange rates for the first quarter.

Production capacities continued to increase as the two sites in Isère and Charente "gained momentum" and work commenced on two new workshops in Franche-Comté.

Sales in Japan grew 15%, thanks to a “highly selective distribution network”; sales in Asia excluding Japan were up 8% despite the more challenging environment in Hong Kong and Macao; while 10% sales growth was reported in the US.

Sales increased 5% in Europe, driven by the extended London Bond Street store, and demand in its domestic market, France.

It forecast: “Despite the economic, geopolitical and monetary uncertainties around the world, the objective for revenue growth in the middle term at constant exchange rates is 8%.”
