Italy: Young tanners tour revamped research facilities

20/04/2015
A group of students on tanning and leather-making courses visited Poteco’s new technical facility in Tuscany to learn about how the improved facilities can support the country’s leather industry.

Leonardo Volpi, president of Poteco - which works closely with the University of Pisa - met the students and impressed on them the importance of continual research.

He said: “Behind the quality of the skin there is scientific research that cannot stop, and Poteco can improve this further with its new facility.”

The youth group is finalising issues for an upcoming next conference that will see them confront entrepreneurs, banks and representatives of public administration on the subject of the concentration of the luxury market in the hands of a few brands.
