A delegation from Alcanena in Portugal has visited the Tuscan tanning district to see their waste disposal facilities, viewing them as a “model for export”.

The president and director of tanning association Assoconciatori, Franco Donati and Piero Maccanti, along with the mayor of Santa Croce, Giulia Deidda, hosted the guests who included Nino Miguel Costa Silva, director of environment at French leather testing institute CTC.

The delegation discussed best practice in the processing of solid and liquid waste and toured the renovated headquarters of the Technological Pole Conciario.
