Italy: Leather project inspires next generation of leather workers

A Tuscany-based project to promote the leather sector, Amici per la Pelle (Friends for Leather), has led to a 174% rise in young people entering the industry, according to organisers.

As part of the initiative, students tour tanneries and learn how to make leathergoods, and the number enrolling on industry courses at ITC Cattaneo in San Miniato has increased significantly in the four years it has been running.
