High-school students visit Tuscan tanneries

21/11/2014
Four tanneries in the Santa Croce cluster in Tuscany recently hosted visits from nearly 100 local high-school students. The students are part of a wider project called ‘Amici per la Pelle’, which translates as ‘Friends for Leather’, which involves around 1,500 young people from high schools and technical institutes close to the country’s three main tanning clusters: Arzignano, Solofra and Santa Croce.

On this occasion, the Tuscan students visited local tanneries run by Settebello, Upimar, CMC and Pegaso. They also visited the Santa Croce cluster’s research and development institute, POTECO.

Students taking part in the project have been invited to take part in a special leathergoods project, with each young person being asked to create their own product, with Pop Art as the main theme. Competition winners will be announced at the next edition of the Lineapelle exhibition, which will take place in Milan from February 25-27.
