Harvey Nichols sees bags of ‘circular’ opportunity with Cocoon

UK-based handbag rental subscription service Cocoon recently popped up within luxury department store Harvey Nichols in London, where it is scheduled to remain until January next year.

Those without a Cocoon membership are invited to sign up in person at the pop-up boutique. Once their membership has been approved, they can select a style to take home on the day from the platform’s rotating curation of handbags (a new selection of which will be offered each week).

The department store’s fashion director, Laura Larbalestier, commented: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Cocoon on their first retail concept to offer customers a circular subscription service for their favourite luxury handbags.

“The pop-up offers not only a beautiful selection of new and pre-loved designer bags to browse, but also the opportunity to shop more sustainably.”

French luxury group Kering invested in Cocoon’s rental platform in June. The exact amount invested has not been disclosed.
