MCM receives ESG prize at Korean awards ceremony
Munich-headquartered luxury leathergoods brand MCM, owned by South Korea’s Sungjoo Group since 2005, was recently awarded first prize in the environment, social and governance (ESG) category of this year’s Korea Product Awards, which took place at Seoul’s Sookmyung Women’s University.
Established in 1997, the prize aims to recognise local companies and institutions which are judged to be representative of the country’s ability to develop and market “excellent” products, local media said.
MCM was singled out for its work on its in-house The Upcycle Project, which incorporates leftover materials from previous collections and uses them to create new, limited edition designs, all of which are packaged using sustainable materials and processes.
