Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Tver region Sergey Anatolyevich Golubev, chairman of the Standing Committee on Social Policy Babushkin Artur Elksovich, and chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship Lebedev Oleg Stanislavovich joined Volga’s chairman Alexandr Alexandrovich Kulikov and senior staff on the tour.
The tannery was established in 1730, making it one of Russia’s oldest leather companies. Many of the current employees are fourth and the fifth generation leatherworkers.
Volga claims the water it uses from the local Lake Seliger contributes to the high quality of its leather.
The tannery has also launched a new website, “celebrating leather as a unique material that has a potential to be transformed into art, distinctive for its inimitable properties”.
