Volga Tannery donates gifts to orphanage
Russian tannery Volga has donated New Year's gifts for orphans living in the House of Mercy at the nearby Bogoroditsky Zhitenny Monastery in Ostashkov.

It said: “We believe in the opportunity to give children deprived of parental care a New Year holiday.”

The tannery was established in 1730, making it one of Russia’s oldest leather companies. Many of the current employees are fourth and the fifth generation leatherworkers.

After a change of ownership in 2014, the tannery invested in new technology, hoisting facilities and warehousing and automation equipment. It was certified Gold standard by multi-stakeholder body the Leather Working Group in 2018.

It is one of the largest employers in the Tver Region, employing over 1,200 workers.
