Kenya prepares to launch international leather trade fair

17/07/2019
The Leather Apex Society of Kenya, which officially launched in November, is among the national industry bodies that are coming together to organise the Kenya International Leather, Leather Products (KILeLe) Trade Fair.

The project is being led by the Centre for Business Innovation and Training. Other partners include Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Tanners Association of Kenya (TAK), Leather Articles Entrepreneurs Association (LAEA), Kenya Footwear Manufacturers Association (KFMA) and Cobblers Association of Kenya (CAK).

They have said they want to establish KILeLe as “Kenya’s premier international trade fair”. Their aims include increasing access to global markets and inducing greater demand for leather and leather products made in Kenya.

A soft launch of the event will take place from July 26-28 in Nairobi. The organisers have said around 70 exhibitors are expected to take part. The full, international fair is scheduled to launch in 2020.
