26/06/2018
This years marks the fourth edition of the initiative, which sees the group open the doors of its workshops to allow the public to witness the skill of its leather artisans and other craftspeople.
The group has said the 56 maisons involved this year will welcome visitors to 76 “exceptional places” on four continents. Of these, 38 have not previously been open to the public.
There will be 23 maisons taking part for the first time, including the Tanneries Roux leather making facility in Romans-sur-Isère, and German luggage and leathergoods maker Rimowa, which LVMH acquired in October 2016.
In addition, several Maisons that have been part of the Journées Particulières initiative since its inception will open new locations this year. This includes Louis Vuitton, which will welcome visitors to its prototype workshop in Paris and to its workshop in Ducey, Normandy.
Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive of LVMH, said: “The Journées Particulières is a unique event which showcases our artisans’ passion for creativity and their trades, and where the general public is able to meet the Houses’ talents. The event is an invitation to discover exceptional venues and carefully-preserved savoir-faire.”
