Lowe promotes Stahl’s EasyWhite Tan
10/10/2017
Lowe tans cattle, deer and sheepskin to wet blue, pickled or salted stage, and exports 90% of its product.
Managing director Andy Lowe said: “We believe this tanning system is a truly great innovation. As we are progressing to widen our range of environmentally responsible articles, we are convinced that partnering with Stahl is going to be beneficial. Through our joint efforts we have shown tanneries in India and Pakistan how high-quality leather can be achieved with the EasyWhite Tan system.”
Stahl claims that by using EasyWhite Tan, salt in tanning wastewater can be reduced by 80% and that the process uses less water and takes less time than some other chrome tanning methods.
Stahl’s sustainability director, Michael Costello, added: “We feel a responsibility to support tanners and brands to create leather with a lower environmental footprint. Working with Lowe is a perfect chance to get a step closer to our shared ambition of a more transparent supply chain."
