“Challenging year” continues for Tandy

04/11/2016
Leather and leathergoods retailer Tandy Leather Factory has reported a 5% year-on-year drop in sales in October.

Revenue for the month was $6.5 million, bringing total sales so far in 2016 to $65.6 million, a 2% drop compared to at the same point last year.

In October, retail sales decreased 4% to $4.2 million and sales from wholesale operations dropped 10% to $2 million. International sales were $314,000, up 13% on October 2015.

Shannon Greene, CEO of Tandy, attributed the drop in sales to having one less selling day so far in 2016. “Even so, the year continues to be a challenging one,” she added.

She also announced that the company was predicting a 1-2% drop in sales for the whole of 2016. This compares to the flat sales Tandy had previously predicted.
