Tandy sales flat in “soft” market

02/09/2016
Leather and leathergoods retailer Tandy Leather Factory reported sales of $6.4 million in August, level with the same month last year. Year-to-date sales are $52.9 million, just down on at the same point in 2015.

Retail leathercraft sales improved 2% to $4.1 million, wholesale leathercraft sales dipped 5% to $16.3 million and international leathercraft sales rose 10% to $305,000.

Shannon Greene, Tandy CEO, said sales in August were in line with the company’s expectations. She added that the “soft” market is affecting same store sales, but two new stores have helped offset this.

“Despite the challenging environment, we are moving ahead with our plans to open several new stores before year-end and should have more details to announce soon,” she said.
