Tandy Leather CEO steps down following sales drop

19/02/2016
The CEO of US-based leather and leathergoods retailer Tandy Leather Factory has stepped down following disappointing January results.

Chief financial officer Shannon Greene will assume the role of interim CEO following Jon Thompson’s departure.

Sales for January fell 5% to $6.7 million. The company blamed the negative impact of the strong US dollar on its international operations.

Towards the end of last year, the company admitted business was getting tougher. “Many of our small business customers are losing confidence to maintain their normal purchase levels because they are sensing a slowdown is coming in their businesses,” said Ms Greene.

Tandy is headquartered in Texas and distributes its products through its 28 Leather Factory stores, 82 Tandy Leather retail stores and four combination stores in the UK, Australia and Spain.
