Tandy Leather reports drop in sales in June

08/07/2016
Leather and leathergoods retailer Tandy Leather Factory said its total sales in June, which came in at $6 million, were down 4% on the same month of 2015. Year-to-date sales for 2016 were $40.4 million, a 1% drop on the same period last year.

Retail Leathercraft sales decreased 5% to $3.9 million and Wholesale Leathercraft also saw a 5% drop in sales to $2 million. Wholesale Leathercraft sales rose 19% to $310,000.

“Overall, our June sales were disappointing but not unexpected as the retail environment continues to be somewhat choppy,” said Shannon Greene, Tandy CEO.

Tandy President Mark Angus added that the company was focusing on “protecting profit margins” in a “tough retail environment”.
