Leather and leathergoods retailer Tandy Leather Factory ended 2016 with total sales of $83.2 million, a 1% drop compared to the previous year.

In December, it reported sales of $9.3 million, a 2% increase year-on-year.

In the final month of the year, retail sales were up 3% to $6.2 million and international sales grew 7% to $400,000, but there was a 3% drop in wholesale sales, which came in at $2.6 million.

"We set a new monthly sales record in December,” said Shannon Greene, Tandy chief executive officer. “While it has been a year marked with some uncertainty, we finished the year on a strong note.”

Company president Mark Angus added that he was pleased with December’s sales figures. He revealed that the company plans to “continue to build its retail footprint” in 2017.
