Lectra support boosts Chinese furniture brand
Leather cutting technology provider Lectra will provide technology and offer the benefit of its experience to help improve the operations of Chinese furniture brand Kuka.

An agreement between the companies was signed at Kuka’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China by Li Donglai, Kuka president, and Edouard Macquin, vice president of sales at Lectra.

Mr Li said the partnership would help Kuka “create a complete solution for the upholstered furniture industry”.

Lectra will work with Kuka to improve its furniture manufacturing process, from design and product development to production. It will also provide Kuka with cutting solutions, including DesignConcept and the Versalis automated leather cutting solution.

Lectra said that implementing these solutions will allow Kuka to create a more efficient design and production process, which will shorten the new product design cycle. It will also allow the brand to better assess project feasibility and product quality during the early stages of product development. Finally, it will satisfy Kuka’s prototyping needs.

As part of the agreement, Lectra’s Professional Services team will provide training to Kuka employees in skills, best practices and process optimisation. Lectra hopes this will allow Kuka to ”achieve operational excellence in the cutting room and enhance its overall competitiveness”.
