Lectra Automotive Leather conference comes to successful conclusion
Cutting-room technology provider Lectra brought its second Automotive Leather conference to a successful conclusion on April 6.

The two-day event, which took place at the company’s technology centre at Cestas, near Bordeaux, included presentations on future demands for cars in general and for leather in automotive interiors in particular.

Among the main speakers were senior leather industry representatives David Peters, from consultancy DLP Advisors, and Guilheme Motta, the director of automotive leather at JBS Couros.

Other important presentations came from specialist analyst firm IHS, from automotive group Renault and from members of the Lectra automotive team.

At the end of the event, Lectra’s global sales director for automotive, Javier García (pictured), said: “Demand is increasing in the automotive leather sector and it’s clear there is a need for transformation for the industry to be able to meet that demand. It’s been good to have the opportunity to share our ideas about this transformation, and about our belief that the future of the industry is digital, with delegates at this conference. It’s been good, also, for the delegates to challenge our ideas.”

He said his company will organise a third annual Automotive Leather conference in Cestas in April 2017.
