Zimbabwe secures funding for leather and beef

The government of Zimbabwe has announced it has secured funding of $2.3 million to develop the leather and beef value chain in the Matabeleland region of the country.

The African Private Sector Assistance Fund will come from the African Development Bank (ADB), announced Zimbabwe’s Industry and Commerce minister, Mike Bimha, at the annual congress of the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries in Bulawayo.

A key objective of the funding to increase the competitiveness of the beef and leather value chain in various pilot areas. This will be achieved by building the production capacities of stakeholders in the industry and facilitating their access to local and overseas markets.
