Indian investors favour Ethiopian tanneries

A “significant number” of Indian investors are pouring money into the leather sector, according to the Ethiopian Ambassador to India.

Local press reported Dr Genet Zewdie as saying the investments were the highest they’d ever been, with the Indians also transferring knowledge and technology to Ethiopian tanneries.

“The total volume of bilateral trade [between the two countries] has reached over $1 billion from $300 million in the shortest period of time," she said.
