Eight companies from the Brazilian leather sector have travelled to Vietnam to take part in a trade mission from July 13-17. The mission was jointly organised by CICB, the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry and export promotions agency Apex-Brasil.

As well as making technical visits to factories in Vietnam, the Brazilian delegation will visit the Shoes & Leather Vietnam exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City. CICB said on announcing the visit that it wants to help Brazilian tanners secure access as suppliers to Vietnamese footwear manufacturers, who have long complained of being unable to source enough leather locally.

CICB president, José Fernando Bello, said he hopes the initiative will generate around $10 million in business.

The eight taking part are Alexander Shoes, America Leather, Couros Bom Retiro, Curtume Cubatão, Durlicouros, JBS Couros, Liderkoll and Pacific Leather.
