German car group BMW has confirmed figures for 2014 which show revenues up 5.7% to a record €80.4 billion and net profit of €5.8 billion.

Sales volumes for the group – which includes the BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands - surpassed the two-million mark for the first time, climbing by 7.9% to a total of 2,117,965 units.
Group workforce increased by 5.4% to 116,324.

"We continued to perform well during the past year, achieving new highs for sales volume, revenues and group earnings," said chairman Norbert Reithofer. "Tailwinds caused by high customer demand for our vehicles worldwide are driving up sales volumes.”

The group also announced a new board member. Oliver Zipse will take his seat as a representative for production, effective from the end of the annual meeting on 13 May. He will take over from Harald Krüger, who will become chairman.
