US students learn business strategy from Tuscan tanners

A delegation of American students led by Oregon FFA (Future Farmers of America) visited Italian tanners association Assoconciatori in Tuscany to learn business strategy from the tanners.

The group of students and tutors visited the association and toured Nuti Ivo tannery to learn each step of the leather manufacturing process.

Assoconciatori president Ezio Castellanici said the visit showed how overseas companies recognised and wanted to emulate the business models. “We constantly receive requests for meetings and visits, from Italy and abroad, confirming the appeal of the Italian tanning industry and the Tuscan tanning tradition.”

Jordyn Coon, tutor of the Oregon FFA delegation, suggested many students are from family-run agriculture businesses, and there could be opportunity for collaboration in the future.
