Tuscan tanners seek government support
Tuscan tanners and leather sector representatives met Italy’s minister of Business, Adolfo Urso, to request immediate financial support to help companies deal with the “economic crisis”.
They discussed financial packages including credit, help with redundancy payments and policies that would avoid job losses and preserve know-how.
The minister committed to “find answers for a territory that has created so much wealth”.
The delegation included Roberto Lupi, vice-president of the Santa Croce Tanners Association; Michele Matteoli, president of the Ponte a Egola Tanners Consortium; Luca Sani, vice-president of the Toscana Manifatture Consortium; Alberto Giannangeli and Gionata Moroni, president and director of Assa; and local mayors.
